Marguerite Barnes Kingsbery, 98

Marguerite Barnes Kingsbery, age 98, of Santa Anna passed from this life on Wednesday, February 4, 2004 at 1:30 p. m. at her residence. Services were Saturday at 11:00 a. m. at First United Methodist Church of Santa Anna with Rev. Art Allen and Rev. Kermit Sorrells officiating. Interment followed at the Santa Anna Cemetery under the direction of Henderson Funeral Home of Santa Anna.

Marguerite was born on March 20, 1905 in Marlin, Texas to the late Doctor Joseph and Ellen Elizabeth Bonner Barnes. She attended Santa Anna Schools and graduated from Coleman High School in 1923. Marguerite married Carroll Emera Kingsbery in Santa Anna on April 17, 1924 and they celebrated seventy one years of marriage. Carroll preceded her in death in 1995. A resident of Santa Anna since 1909, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she served many years on the administrative council and was also a member of the UMW. She was a past member of the Coleman County Breeder-Feeder and the Lions Club Auxiliary. Marguerite was a homemaker.

Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn Garrett of Lake Jackson, Texas and Kay and husband Frank Gray of Santa Anna, Texas; eight grandchildren - Mike and wife Roz Garrett of Austin, Charles and wife Susan of Early, Celia Slingluff of Lake Jackson, Barnes and wife Lynette Kingsbery of Lubbock, Karen and husband Bob McManus of Austin, Charles "Chuck" Kingsbery of Austin, Shelly and husband Stevon DeMarco of Englewood, Colorado, Kallie and husband Reece McIver of Elgin; 19 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Marguerite was preceded in death by her son, Maurice Kingsbery, in 2002 and by four sisters and four brothers.

Pallbearers were Mike Garrett, Charles Garrett, Barnes Kingsbery, Chuck Kingsbery, Reece McIver, Stevon DeMarco, Bob McManus.
