Mrs. Martha Zellner
Mrs. Martha Zellner, wife of Bro. George Zellner, died at her home on January 7th, 1882.  She suffered severely for two days, from a sudden attack of congestion, but became easy and calmly breathed her last as pleasantly as if dropping asleep.
She was a daughter of Elder Daniel Mabry, one of Monroe's noble pioneers, who many years ago filled out his allotted time and was called to his long home.  She was born May 12th, 1828, being 53 years, seven months and 25 days of age.
She united with the Primitive Baptist church in 1852, and was baptized by Elder William Dismuke, and lived a sound and consistent Baptist up to her death.  She was dearly beloved and highly esteemed by all who knew her.  I have known her a long while and it was always a pleasure to me to meet her, and to hear her talk.  She was kind mild and pleasant, and good company, and certainly was one of the Excellent of the Earth.  She was the mother of ten children, three of whom preceded her to the grave, and she now leaves her dear husband, and seven children all grown, with many relatives and friends to mourn their loss, which is her eternal gain.  But our sister is not dead, God has only taken her to her eternal home there to live with Christ her Savior.  In this dispensation of God's providence, her husband has lost a lovely, precious and faithful companion, her children a loving and instructive mother, the community a sincere and good friend, and the church a pious, faithful member.  May God bless the bereaved husband and children, may they live to imitate the examples of the dear one that is gone, and may He prepare each one of them to meet her beyond the grave in that haven of rest where afflictions never come, and parting will be known no more, is the desire of the writer.     D. G. McCowen
