The home of Timothy O'Neill,
and possibly the home of his father, Patrick O'Neill. Timothy's daughter Catherine O'Neill was born in this house in 1866. She was my great-grandmother.

Bawnard, Eyeries Parish,
Beara Peninsula, County Cork

Map showing location of Bawnard

For a history of Eyeries Parish see:

Bawnard is a group of houses east of Eyeries. My great-great-great-grandfather Patrick Hanley lived in the house that was located here. The rock walls in the picture were fences around the house. The house was approximately 8 ft by 12 ft. My great-great-grandmother Mary Hanley was born in this house. In 1865 she married Timothy O'Neill, who was from Gour (above). They were married in the Catholic Church in Eyeries. Descendants of Patrick Hanley's son Paddy still live in Bawnard.

Up the hill from Patrick Hanley's house was the house of his
brother Tadhg Mór Hanley. It is the rock structure to the
right of the white roof in the center of the picture.
